Our aims are to promote leadership among women, to encourage local community development, and to assist women both locally and globally. The Alberta Women's Institutes are affiliated with Federated Women's Institutes of Canada (FWIC) and Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW). Home and Country is published three times a year. Deadline for submissions are February 1, July 1, and October 1. Submitted articles should be no longer than 300 w o r d s in length and are subject to editing. No article will be printed that is deemed to be discriminatory. Presidents Address Continued from page 1 Resolution deadline date has now been changed to December 31st to be sent to Marcella Bacso. Pennies For Friendship netted $357.45 for ACWW. The robbery netted $300.00 towards FWIC 2006 Convention. Thank you Hank! The Raffle netted $948.28. Thank you to Bernice and helpers. The handicraft was displayed beautifully. All of our girls clubs are doing great, it was nice to hear their reports. FWIC are suggesting for the 2006 convention that members make a potholder, put your name and address on the back of it for a fun time and a pen pal. At Council it was suggested that we have Branch histories not a scrapbook. Also for 2005 Provincial Convention a competition for members to do something depicting Alberta's 100th Anniversary. This can be of any size and any medium whatever you would like to use. Judging will be done at 2005 Convention. When in the handicraft room I saw so many items that you talented ladies had made, so I am sure great ideas for the 100th Anniversary will come about. AWI office in Wetaskiwin will be closed for holidays from August 15 to 27.wi Words that Count The seven most important words are: `I made a mistake and I'm sorry' The six most important words are: `You did a very good job'. The five most important words are: `And what is your opinion?' The four most important words are: `How can I help?' The three most important words are: `I appreciate you.' The two most important words are: `Thank you.' The least important word is: `I'
