She i s at the present time serving her f o u r t h term as President
In 1954 she was elected Constituency Convener of the Ohaton Cons
t i t u e n c y , and served four years. I t was while she was Constituency
Convener, that she was chosen as one © f the delegates from
D i s t r i c t three, t o attend the P i r s t n a t i o n a l Convention of the
Federated Women's I n s t i t u t e s of Canada, held at the Chateau
L a u r i e r i n Ottawa. In 1958, the A. W. I, sent her t o the Banff
Rural Leadership Techniques Course, and she received further
Leadership t r a i n i n g , when she attended the Spring Leadership
Course i n Banff i n 1959. At the i r c v i n c i a l Convention i n 1959,
she was appointed Chairman of the United nations and Exchange
programs.
In 1961, she was elected D i r e c t o r of D i s t r i c t 3, and attended
the second n a t i o n a l Convention at t h e . U n i v e r s i t y of B r i t i s h Columbia.
S t i l l i n O f f i c e as D i r e c t o r of D i s t r i c t 3, she attended
the t h i r d n a t i o n a l Convention held at W o l f v i l l e , leva S c o t i a , i n
1964. At the 1965 P r o v i n c i a l Convention, she was elected Provinc
i a l Secretary for the A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e s , and held t h is
o f f i c e for two years, resigning when her husband required major
surgery.
The Round H i l l Women's I n s t i t u t e honored Berniee with a L i fe
Membership i n the A. W. I, at the 50th Anniversary celebration of
t h e i r Branch. Mrs. J . B i e l i s h , P r o v i n c i a l President, was there
to make the presentation, and t o congratulate Berniee, and t ©
thank her f o r her many years of s e r v i c e to the A l b e r t a Women's
I n s t i t u t e s . This memorable occasion took place on the f o u r th
day of August, 1968.
