Salena also held the o f f i c e s o f P r e s i d e n t , Vice- President and
Secretary- Treasurer o f the I n s t i t u t e Branch.
When the Women's I n s t i t u t e sponsored the " Red Cross Donors
C l i n i c " and the area " Mobile Chest X- Rays" Salena was busy arranging
f o r a h a l l , l o c a t i n g nurses and workers as w e l l as working at the
C l i n i c s h e r s e l f . Another W. I. project was the Cancer Crusade where
she served as " Crusade Captain" u n t i l she became too c r i p p l e d with
a r t h r i t i s to c a r r y on. The Cancer Society presented Salena with a
a C e r t i f i c a t e for a l l her years o f s e r v i c e.
In I9? 8 the" Lion's Club" honored Salena with t h e " C i t i z e n o f the
Year" award for a l l her many services w i t h i n the community.
Cur W. I. Branch has been kept organized due to her enthusiasm
and hard work.
This year, I98O. being our 50th Anniversary, we thought i t f i t t i n g
that i n a p p r e c i a t i o n o f her e f f o r t s that we honor h i r with a " Iiift
Membership" to the A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e i n r e c o g n i t i o n of her
dedicated service through the years.
