i n farming. The Morrisroes have r a i s e d three lovely c h i l d r e n , R o n a ld
who farms with his Dad, Norma who i s a Nurses Side and Gail who
teaches.
E t h e l ' s f i r s t involvement with community l i f e was with the R i d -
gewood U. F. W. A. In 1947 she joined the newly formed Ridgewood W. I.
and then on moving to Red Deer she became a member of the Clearview
W. I. thus has been a c t i v e l y engaged i n Women's I n s t i t u t e work for
over t h i r t y years. She held o f f i c e at a l l I n s t i t u t e l e v e l s and served
as P r o v i n c i a l President from 1973- 75.
As Alberta President Ethel has had many serious moments and important
decisions to make. For many years i t has been f e l t that a
P r o v i n c i a l Office was necessary for the welfare of the organization
and i n 1975 having had the cooperation of the branches she was able
to sign a f i v e year lease for an o f f i c e in Edmonton. That year the
Government gave a grant of $ 25, ooo to the Council to be used for the
educational benefits of a l l the members. She has attended five Federated
Conventions and four" Associated Country Women of the World"
Conferences i n Norway, I r e l a n d , U . S . A . and as Leader of the delegati
to Perth, A u s t r a l i a . Though no longer holding o f f i c e she i s s t i l l an
a c t i v e member and remains i n t e r e s t e d in whatever the I n s t i t u t e is
doing.
Upon her retirement from P r o v i n c i a l O f f i c e she was presented with
a L i f e Membership i n r e c o g n i t i o n of c o n t r i b u t i o n to the organization
Ethel might be small i n stature but she is mighty i n the strength of
her c o n v i c t i o n s , for t h i s she i s respected and admired.
