Mary McNiven was " born i n June
1904 i n Ayr, Scotland, the eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald
McNiven. She received her education
in Scotland before coming to Alberta
in 1924 with her two s i s t e r s and four
brothers.
After l i v i n g a year i n Lethbridge
she came to the Sundial dist
r i c t where she met and married Gold-win
Alfred H i l l on December 4, 1926.
Mrs. H i l l - joined the Sundial Women's' Institute the
f i r s t year i t was organized and has been a member ever
since. She enjoys attending the confererces and conventions.
With her sweet smile and quiet personality she has
endeared herself to a l l her many friends. Her hobbies are
k n i t t i n g and the c u l t i v a t i o n of house plants.
Mrs. H i l l i s the mother of three sons and three
daughters. There are also eleven grandchildren.
Sundial Women's Institute presented Mrs. H i l l with a
L i f e Membership i n the Alberta V/ omen's Institutes i n March
1956.
