MRS. WILLIAM MacEARLANE
Mrs. William MacEarlane ( nee Rubye Muir) was born and
educated i n Edinburgh, Scotland. She came to this country in
1920 and attended MacTavish Business College i n Edmonton before
moving to Red Deer i n 1921. She was employed by the Alberta
Government Telephones u n t i l the summer of 1925 when she married
William MacEarlane, a dairy farmer i n the Balmoral d i s t r i c t,
east of Red Deer.
She took an immediate active interest i n the community
and was one of the instigators i n organizing the Balmoral Insti
t u t e i n 1926, acting as the f i r s t Treasurer. She has also acted
i n the capacity of branch president and secretary and has continued
to be an i n s p i r a t i o n to her branch.
