MRS. PEARLS HEUMANN • A—,.,.— ,,— -. -, • ——
Mrs. Joe Heumann ( nee Pearle Merkley) was " born i n Ledger-wood,
North Dakota, January 22, 1887. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Vm. G. Merkley were horn i n Ontario of Scotch descent.
The Merkleys a r r i v e d i n Ponoka from Ontario i n September 1901,
then to L^ merton i n 1904 and to what l a t e r became the v i l l a g e of
M i r r o r i n 1912. Pearle attended school i n Lamerton and M i r r o r,
l i v i n g with her parents u n t i l June 1916 when she married Joe Heumann
and moved to her present home.
Mrs. Heumann joined the M i r r o r W. I. i n 1925 when i t was organi
z e d and i s the only Charter member l e f t . She has been an outstanding
member, s e r v i n g as President s e v e r a l times throughout her 38
years. She also served as Constituency Convener of S t e t t l e r Cons
t i t u e n c y f o r f o u r years. Although not as a c t i v e now she a s s i s t ed
i n decorating the f l o a t f o r the parade t h i s year and took her turn
i n the booth.
