These theatres and cabaretes pre-sent
primarily contemporary wo-rks.
Lovers of the classics and
social drama may visit the leading
stage of Slovenia — the Drama at
Eravceva ulica Street 1, and
devotees of opera and ballet will
surely not want to miss a visit to
the Opera. And there is even a
special youth theatre — Pozoriste
mladih. The Sentjakovsko pozoris-te
Theatre presents comedies, and
the Mala drama Theatre and Glej
and Pekarno Theatres are given
over to the presentation of experi-mental
works. Tiny tots have their
own puppet theatre — Lutkarsko
pozoriste.
Sports fans can choose from a
wide variety of events, including
basketball and hockey, in Tivoli
Hall. Visitors to Lubljana will ceri-anl- y
find the occasion to wander
through the major shooping attrac-tions
of the town: the NA-M- A, "Pri
poSti", Maximarket department
stores and the supermarkets of
EMONA; the "Modna hlSa", "Me-talka- ",
"Astra", and "Centromer-kur- "
stores; souvenir and handi-crafts
shops, fur and leather crafts
shops, sporting goods, auto parts,
furniture, jewelry, glassware and
ceramics, and fashionwear shops.
There are no special hours for
shopping: in Ljubljana the stores
are open all day.
In their wanderings about Ljub-ljana,
a town that constantly
surprises you in Its variety, visitors
can stop for a bit of refreshment in
cozy restaurants and cafeterias,
folk-sty- le inns, and taverns. It is
i not easy to make a choise among
the hotel restaurants and speciality
restaurants. Fish restaurants inclu-de
the Operna klet, the Мабек,
Dalmacija, Slavija, and Koper;
Dalmatian dishes may be ordered
along with grilled meat at the
Podroznik, Dr 0. and Konoba res-taurants;
well-prepare- d game di-shes
may be found at the Zlatorog,
Vitez. and the restaurant of the
Hotol Union; finally, Slovenian
national dishes may be ordered at
the restaurants of the Slon, Turist,
and llirija Hotels and at the Urska,
Sestica, Krpan, and Pod velborn
restaurants Pizza is prepared at
the Ko-R- a Bar and Parma and
Konrlitor restaurants. One may
enjoy supper to the sound of
classical music at the Maxim
restaurant. Zvezda Tavern, and
Alpe-Adri- a Bar. Visitors can enjoy
the excellent performances and
dance music at the night bars of
the Lev, Slon, and Turist Hotels
and at the Neboticnik Tower.
Traffic in Ljubljana is lively, but
not to the extent that the visitor
will lose his way. Nevertheless, the
best way to enjoy the town is to
leave one's automobile In a parking
garage, or to find a safe parking
place, and set off undisturbed,
walking and taking in the sights.
