Chap. 371 WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
The Alberta Women's Institutes
instnJitfs 4* ^ exi s t i ng institutes, together with all institutes
which may hereafter be incorporated, are hereby declared
to be associated together as a corporation
( a) with perpetual succession and a common seal,
( b) with the title of " The Alberta Women's Institutes",
( c) with the objects of promoting, supervising and coordinating
the activities of women's institutes, and
( d) with power to do all things necessary and incidental
to carrying out such objects, either alone or
in conjunction with any other person, association

andSby" aw S 5. The constitution and by- laws of the Alberta Women's
Institutes, as the same were set out in the report of
the annual convention of Alberta Women's Institutes held
in 1928, shall continue in full force and effect, so far as the
same are not inconsistent with this Act, as the constitution
and by- laws of the Alberta Women's Institutes incorporated

6. There shall be a council which shall have the general
management and control of the affairs of the Alberta
Women's Institutes. [ R. S. A. 1942, c. 262, s. 6]

7. At any convention of institutes, the number of directors
may from time to time be increased or diminished
by means of an amendment to the constitution and by- laws
and duly passed at any such convention.

constitution m a y b e m o dified, altered and amended in any way not
inconsistent with this Act at any convention of institutes,
by resolution passed in accordance with the constitution
and by- laws for the time being in force.

9. The council has power to engage such officers and
servants as it from time to time deems proper, to prescribe
their duties, fix their salaries, and to dispense with the
services of any officer or servant. [ R. S. A. 1942, c. 262, s. 9]
Local Institutes
10. ( 1) Eight or more married or single women who are
over sixteen years of age, residents of the same vicinity,
and not members of any other institute, may proceed to
the formation and incorporation of an institute in the manner
set out in this section.
