2000 EVENTS ( Continued) ASSOCIATED COUNTRY WOMEN OF THE WORLD Betty Kilgour Kilangala, East Africa project: Thirty pounds of material was contributed to the project through the Hillsdowns W. I. who served as a collection point for the project. Betty Kigour had been the guest speaker at the Hillsdown W. I. Strawberry Tea. Masai Book Project - Books were collected and sent to Kenya, Africa via Can West Travel Iodine Deficiency Project - April stockings were emptied @ one dollar per person Pennies For Friendship - October stockings @ $ 4.50/ member for a $ 50.72 donation World Food Day pot luck supper - Ethnic dishes Christmas Shoe Box Project - Two boxes assembled by the branch, one each for a boy and girl between the ages of 6- 8 years of age. Shipping charges covered by a donation of $ 5.00 for each box. INTERESTING ROLL CALLS: A New Year, New Millennium Goal. What is your impression of Genetically Foods? AWI pins and tartan strips were presented to the following members: Vanessa Elliott, Teressa Greening, Faye Nicholson and Sandra Pierce The farm of Roy & Marion Brown was in the path of the Pine Lake Tornado that claimed the lives of fourteen at Green Acres Resort July 14, 2000. Land belonging to Eric and Vera Pierce east of the lake was also hit. Although the buildings on the Brown farm were damaged, there was no structural loss. Trees were decimated with loss of privacy and wind protection. The Pierce land rented by Roy & Lillie Clutton, was laid flat by the tornado force. Bob and Irma had wind damage on their pasture land.
