BRANCH AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES:
AWI Membership Dues: $ 15.007member ( PLWI members pay $ 5.00)
Fun time with a hostess in charge each month
Secret Sisters names drawn for remembering birthdays and anniversaries
Stocking Project continues with one dime for January, two for Feb., etc
The funds are dispersed as: Jan. - April ($ 1.00) to AWI; May - Oct. ($ 4.50) ACWW; Nov. - Dec. $ 2.50) to
FWIC.
Heart Fund Card Party - 51/ 2 tables of whist with $ 263.00 donations.
Road Side Clean Up - April 26 with WI members and families participating. Return from
bottles & cans netted $ 75.40.
Cancer Canvas -$ 135.00
Children's Garden Club— Seventeen of the seventeen registered gardens were judged by
Doris Warke and Kathleen Lawrence. At the Garden Party in August, each participant was given a placement
ribbon along with a one dollar McDonald's gift certificate. Garden participants brought cooked veggies from
then- gardens which were added to the cooked meat to create a delicious stew. The branch was grateful for a
$ 75 00 grant from the Rec. Br. to help fund the project.
W. I. Comer - The comer was agam attractive with the usual flowers and the branch paying
for the summer grass cutting by Les Snider.
Coffee Party - 36 adults and 2 children attended the annual event with $ 328.65 ( gross)
realized. Linda Holt won the Michener Centre cook book Cheryl Collins and Bea Ganter received packages of
post cards
Jelly Project - Katfileen Lawrence filled orders with limited varieties of jam or jelly. Sales
totalled $ 199.86.
Crossroads Ag. Fair - PLWI sponsored the handicraft section. A prize was presented to
Isabell Hogg.
Five branch members and nine visitors toured the Sunnybrook Museum for " Tea and Tour"
on August 13 for a delightful afternoon.
HUB Horse Race Nite - A basket filled with three jars of jelly was auctioned as the branch
contribution.
Christmas Market - Sponsored by PLWI Saturday, November 29/ 03. 19 tables were
purchased by vendors. The branch had a " Kids" table as well as a poinsettia raffle, 50/ 50 draw and served a noon
lunch Market profit of 415.50 was realized
Kathleen Lawrence knit two lap robes from wool donated by Faye Nicholson. The robes
was donated to the Red Deer Women's Emergency Shelter.
Eight Christmas Mugs filled with " instant" ingredients were again donated to the Red Deer
Homeless through the Mobile Outreach Program.
Christmas Family Supper - The new format of " supper out" attracted thirteen members and
spouses to a buffet supper at the Red Deer Dragon City Cafe Dec. 6/ 03.
Christmas greetings sent to past members
Branch History kept up to date.
Monthly branch meeting reports were sent by e- mail to the Innisfail Province and R. D.
County News.
CONSTITUENCY ACTIVITIES
Annual Constituency Handicraft Tea and Display - April 26,2003 at the Red Deer Museum.
Twenty- nine articles were entered by branch members. No outstanding articles this year.
Constituency Conference - May 10, 2003 at the Red Deer Museum. Four members from
the branch attended the annual meeting comprised of seven branches under the direction of Constituency
Convener Marcella Bacso. Speakers included Candace Spurrel ( Bethany College Side Care Centre); Zutta
