Walker sang two delightful solos, " The Star," by Rogers, and " Ho! Mr. Piper," by Curran. She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. J . A . Buchanan. The evening's programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem. THURSDAY MORNING This session opened with the singing of " 0 Canada" followed by a few minutes of community singing. Mrs. Wm. Stewart, Mrs. M. L . Thompson and Mrs. J . A. MacQuarrie, Director of District No. 4, were the presiding officers. A letter of greetings was read to the Convention from Mi's. Huyck, Strome, a Past President. Mrs. Turnbull moved, seconded by Mrs. Ridley, that a reply be sent to Mrs. Huyck, expressing thanks for the greetings and regrets in learning of her bad arm. Mrs. Stewart, wishing to attend the Federated Session at this time, asked Mrs. Thompson, Vice- President, to carry on. ' In the absence of Mrs. W. R. Roberts, Director for District No. 1, Mrs. Wood read the splendid report of the work done there. This report is found on page 31. Mi's. A. H . Rogers read the excellent report of work done under her Standing Committee of Education and Better Schools. This report will be found on page 48. A l l the resolutions dealing with this Committee were taken at this time and all were lost. Mrs. Morton, Director of District No. 2, gave her report at this time. See page 33 for this very fine report. The Nomination Committee reported Mrs. Wm. Stewart nominated for President, Mrs. M . L . Thompson for Vice- President and Mi's. R. E . Wood for Secretary. No other nominations being given when the meeting was thrown open for further nominations, these officers were declared elected. The report on Household Economics was given by the Convener of that Standing Committee, Mrs. Robt. Brebner, and it will be found on page 55. Miss E . Dakin, one of the demonstrators from the Women's Extension Department of Agriculture, told the delegates of the work, of that Branch, and. urged the delegates to take advantage of the correspondence courses being offered. Mrs. H. A. Fulcher, Convener of Handicrafts then announced the winners of prizes in the Handicraft Display and called on Mrs. J . McGregor Smith to present her shield to the winners— the Angus Ridge Women's Institute. This is the second year that this Branch has been successful in winning this trophy. Mrs. E. Ducie, Dundurn, Sask., Federated Convener of Agriculture, read a telegram from the Agricultural Marketing Board at Vancouver to our Convention. It showed the necessity for Canada to increase her vegetable seed production and stated that the B. C. Seed Growers' Association offered full facilities toward any plan the delegates may devise to encourage the use of Canadian seed as a contribution to our national welfare.
