The nominating committee
presented the slate of
| executive for the year 1998.
International Affairs
c o n v e n o r , C a r o l yn
Richards, reported that our
Christmas gift for our Australian
pen pal had been
mailed. Our gift to our Australian
pen pal for 1998 will
be in the form of a Pine
Lake W. I. journal.
A t h a n k y o u was
received from Pine Lake
" Hub" for the donation for
their fundraising horserace
night.
The representative meeting
was attended by Marilyn
Wattenbarger.
Pine L a k e W . I . w i ll
again donate cookies for the
Meals on Wheels Christmas
plates.
For Handicraft, convenor
Kathleen Lawrence had
us decorate small jars of
Pine Lake W I j e l l y in
Christmas themes, for our
donation to the Raggedy
Anne and Andy gift day sale
at the Red Deer Museum.
Our Christmas family
" Hub" will culminate our
1997 year.
In reply to the column
" Should We?" in the Oct.
issue of the County News,
the following are a few of
my comments:
1) C o u l d reports from
Lacombe Four- Point and
Blackfalds Women's Institutes
be included in the W. I.
C a l l i n g C a r d report" 1
Although not in the Red
Deer County they are members
of the Red Deer Centre
Constituency of Women's
Institutes.
2) Re- instate the Obituary
column covering ( he
County.
3) County minutes must
be printed in their entirely
A number of County rale
payers l i v e outside the
County and p i c k i n g the
minutes up at the County
office is an impossibility.
4) County News should
c o m e i n d i v i d u a l ! y
addressed and not by bulk
mail.

Our final meeting
RED DEER MEALS ON WHEELS
for
supper on December 6th at the year was held at the
Pine Lake Hub with all
members present. Our
annual family Christmas
supper was attached by 51
people which was followed
by a fun night with a game
of flag whist. Guests of
Roy and Marion Brown,
Joey Stranger and Janet
Venz from Australia, also
enjoyed the evening with
wishes to thank the following for their
contributions to our
Special Christmas Activities.
W. I. of Red Deer Centre Constituency
for providing wonderful cookie plates.
R. D. Christian School Grades 7, 8 & 9
for their carolling.
Jennifer Edmunds & Darlene
Edmunds- Molleken for their craft.
5th Brownie Unit ( Popular Ridge) for
their Reindeer.
Red Deer Central Lions Club for providing
funds to buy chocolates.
Your yearly support is greatly
appreciated by our clients.
Thank You!
Many of our ex- members
were sent Christmas
cards, our donation to the
Red Deer Museum was
delivered and a successful
sale of home made jelly
was completed
Secret sisters for the
past year were revealed in
the form of a Christmas
card and an exchange of
gifts in a " pick and/ or take"
style then look place.
Education convenor.
Marion Brown, presented
an interesting program by
telling and showing us
slides on the F. W. I. C. convention
held in Hamilton,
Ontario in June 1997. Both
she and her husband, Roy,
had a wonderful time.
They also toured the Adelaide
Hoodless Homestead
as well as the Erland Lee
home.
January 10th. 1998 has
been chosen to meet with
Roy and Marion Brown's
guests from Australia in
the form of a pot luck supper
at the Pine Lake Hub
Centre. These guests are
relatives of Ada Newton
from the Haden branch of
Women's Institute of Australia.
Ada Newton and her
fellow members from
Haden W. I. have been in
correspondence with Pine
Lake W. I. for over 25
years.
If anyone is interested
in W. I. please meet with us
on the second Tuesday of
each month at 7p. m. at the
Pine Lake Hub.
