I t was Adelaide Hoodless of Stoney Creek, Ontario that helped organize the f i r st women's group. She had l o s t her baby because she had fed her son contaminated milk. Our Pine Lake Branch has just celebrated i t s 40th Anniversary of which we are j u s t ly proud. We did not do i t alone. The 1997 Communicate with Confidence program s t a t e s , " A leader needs a strong personal support group. This group includes spouse ( or partner), other family, f r i e n d s , and co- workers who understand and support the commitment a leader must make to the organization". Husbands and f a m i l i e s , you are our sounding boards who help keep our blood pressure at an even k e e l ; our helpmates who encourage, support and share i n our many a c t i v i t i e s, I t i s only with you are we able to f u l f i l l our mandate as an educational organization for r u r a l and urban women; to promte leadership, to encourage l o c a l community development and a s s i s t women both l o c a l l y and i n developing countries.
